Creamy Mustard Pork Chops

I think I found this recipe on Food Network a few years back. Hubs really likes it and I love how easy it is. This week the grocery store had a really good deal on pork chops, so I pulled out this old favorite.

Creamy Mustard Pork Chops

4 boneless pork chops, 3/4" thick
1 1/2 tsp. lemon pepper seasoning
1 tbsp. butter
1 can (10 3/4 oz.) Campbell's Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp. Dijon-style mustard
2 cartons sliced mushrooms
3 cloves garlic diced
**Cayenne pepper, about 1tsp

-Sprinkle chops with lemon pepper seasoning and cayenne. Heat butter in skillet. Cook chops 10 min. or until browned. Remove from pan.
-Add garlic and mushrooms to pan, cook 3-5 minutes.
-Add soup, milk, and mustard. Stir well then add chops back to pan. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 10 min. or until chops are done.

We normally serve ours over rice. But this week we had mac and cheese and corn.

Short Leg Struggles

Hello, my name is Dimebag and I am a total rock star. My people think they are in charge, but I know differently. I am as spoiled as they come. I have a cal king bed that I allow my people to sleep in, I am fed on a regular basis, and best of all when I get tired on walks my momma carries me. We took a walk with grandma and her Jack Russell Dottie. Dot got quite a laugh at my expense. She just doesn't understand the struggles of short-legged dogs.

--I just love this picture of Dime. Feet in the air, head and ears hanging, and tounge flopped out of his mouth. Such a sweet boy.

Quinoa

This is a recipe that I adapted from the Shayloss YouTube channel. They added more ingredients than me, I just used what I had on hand.

I cooked the quinoa according to the package.
Chop 1 jalapeƱo, 1/2 onion, 1 green bell pepper, and 1 bunch of cilantro.
Drain a can of corn.
Mix all your goodies in a bowl. Squeeze the juice of 1 or 2 limes, depending on preference.
Add your quinoa, salt, and pepper to taste.

We ate ours with chips. I thought it was very good. The hubs thought it was, "Okay."
*Looking back I wish we added chopped tomatoes.

Cotton Round Firestarters

These are super simple cheap firestartes. They are easy to make and they are something that I feel are essential to a camping kit or B.O.B.

You will need Petroleum jelly, cotton rounds or squares, a razor and a water tight container to store them in. I used an empty spice jar.

Start by using your blade to rough up the surface of the cotton round. Try not to put an actual hole in the round. We are pretty much just fluffing it up, not trying to cut it in half. When its fluffed there is more surface area for the jelly to stick to.

Apply about 1 teaspoon of petroleum jelly to half of the fluffed cotton round.

Then pretend you are making a sandwhich with 1 piece of bread and fold the round or square in half. A lot of people use cotton balls but when you use them they get jelly all over your hands. If you use squares or rounds and fold them in half it cuts down on the mess.

Stow them away in your container until you need them.

Of course I had to test mine against a cotton ball, mine lasted a lot longer!

How To: Freezing Dairy

This past week I made potato leek soup. One of the ingredients I needed was heavy cream. I bought a larger container so I could freeze the remaining cream for future use! Next time I need it all I have to do is pop one out of the freezer.

You will need; heavy cream or buttermilk, a tablespoon and ice cube trays

I started out measuring just so I would know how many cubes I would need to use. My ice cube tray holds 1 tablespoon of cream. If I have a recipe that calls for 2 tablespoons, I will need to use 2 cubes.

I put my cream cubes into the freezer and waited, be patient! These take longer to freeze than water becuase the liquid is thicker.

Two hours later I popped them out and put them into a labeled ziplock baggie. Ta da! This is a great way to save cream that is about to expire.

Makeup Stash Overhaul

I spent a good chunk of this muggy afternoon reorganizing my extensive makeup stash. Here are the first look pictures.

I started by emptying out all of my drawers and going through everything. I threw away all products that I don't use anymore. I wiped out all my drawers, dividing bins, and my table. Then I completely reorganized. I grouped together all similar items. And I put my most used items into one dividing bin so I wouldn't have to constantly search for things I use on a regular basis.

On the left is the tall blue and clear bin I got at Walmart. The top 3 drawers are for makeup. Next to that I put my light up mirror. Then a white 3 drawer I got at office depot. The top drawer has mascara, the middle has eyeliner, and the final drawer has blushes. Next to that is a container store DVD holder that I use for my MAC palettes and some loose face powders. Then I have 2 pen holders with my makeup brushes. And in the last box is my bow collection.

Pictured above going from left to right I have my eye primers. In the middle are my Urban Decay Palettes. Then the white bin on the left is my most used makeup. Bottom left are some Too Faced palettes, then some MAC and Stila palettes, and in the yellow bin are some Loreal Hip Duos and MAC eyeshadows.

In the second blue bin drawer I have mostly loose powder eyeshadows. I have some Mehron palettes. A few drugstore eyeshadow palettes. In the back middle I have some multiples and some things I dont use.
In the very last drawer I have stuff I rarely reach for. I have some wet makeup palettes, all my lip products, some Leishi loose powder eyeshadows, MAC pigment samples, concealers, and some ELF and Urban Decay single shadows.

Thanks for reading! I hope this inspired you to clean and organize your makeup stashes!

Welcome Post

Welcome to my blog.

My name is Torrey. I'm 23. I've been married for almost a year to my wonderful husband. We have been together for 9 years the end of September. He's one of the best guys I know. We have a beautiful fur-baby. Our dog is a 3 year old red tween dachshund. Dime is our precious baby until we decide the time is right to have our own kids.

Until then we are just trying to live our life the best way we know how. Like most Americans we live on a tight budget. We do what we need to do to save money and pay the bills. Using other blogs and Pinterest I have started the process of making our family more money savvy, efficient, and most importantly organized.

I'm not to sure how this blog will evolve, but I plan on posting my tips and tricks for setting up hopefully what becomes a well run household. I am an amateur blogger so I'm sure things will not always work out the way I plan them. Hopefully, through my mistakes, you can make better more informed choices about whatever project you endeavor to start.

Thanks for your time.
Torrey
